South Africa Legalises Same-Sex Marriage

Who would have thought that a country in Africa, a continent where some countries punish homosexuality by death, would be the fifth country to legalise gay marriage! Thank you South Africa for joining Canada, Belgium, The Netherlands and Spain in a movement towards equal rights around the world.

Thom and Juan Celebrate their Fabulous Gay Wedding

After meeting in a bar years ago, Thom and Juan got married in the quaint Deer Park United Church in Toronto, Ontario. With beautiful stained glass behind them, Thom and Juan wed wearing Greek wedding crowns in this Greek/Latino wedding! They enjoyed a lavish dinner at Myth after the church ceremony where all of their friends and family from Florida and New York joined in the celebration. "These boys are the most genuine guys I think I've ever encountered. I wish them nothing but the best" claimed Elvira Kurt shortly after the wedding.

Canada to Revisit Gay Marriage

Talk about beating a dead horse. Apparently our "friend' Stephen Harper is still itchy about the whole gay marriage thing. They're still going at the "protect the children" angle. You know, because gay parents enjoy putting plastic bags over the heads of their offspring. There is to be a vote in parliament on whether or not to reopen discussions on gay marriage. No date has been set for this vote, but the minority Conservative government seems too eager to bring this whole debate back to life. Aren't there more important things for them to talk about other than a equitable law already in action? Puh-leaze!

12 Reasons why Same-Sex Couples Shouldn't be Allowed to Marry

1 Homosexuality is not natural, much like eyeglasses, polyester, and birth control are not natural.
2 Heterosexual marriages are valid because they produce children. Infertile couples and old people cannot get legally married because the world needs more children.
3 Obviously gay parents will raise gay children because straight parents only raise straight children.
4 Straight marriage will be less meaningful, since Britney Spears's 55-hour just-for-fun marriage was meaningful.
5 Heterosexual marriage has been around for a long time, and it hasn't changed at all: women are property, Blacks can't marry Whites, and divorce is illegal.
6 Gay marriage should be decided by the people, not the courts, because the majority-elected legislatures, not courts, have historically protected the rights of minorities.
7 Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are always imposed on the entire country. That's why we only have one religion in America.
8 Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people makes you tall.
9 Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage license.
10 Children can never succeed without both male and female role models at home. That's why single parents are forbidden to raise children.
11 Gay marriage will change the foundation of society. Heterosexual marriage has been around for a long time, and we could never adapt to new social norms because we haven't adapted to cars or longer lifespans.
12 Civil unions, providing most of the same benefits as marriage with a different name are better, because a "separate but equal" institution is always constitutional. Separate schools for African-Americans worked just as well as separate marriages will for gays & lesbians.

South Africa Passes Same-Sex Marriage Bill

South Africa's Parliament legalized same-sex marriage on Tuesday making it the fifth country in the world to do so. The downside is that civil officers still have the right to refuse to marry same-sex couples if they think it's all icky and stuff....
It still must be approved by the National Council of Provinces, the upper house of Parliament and be signed by the President Thabo Mbeki. We're on a roll here; Five countries down, one hundred and eightynine to go!

On November 5th, 2006, Mandy and Denika were united in matrimony aboard the Showboat on Lake Ontario. Mariposa Cruises provided the elegant boat for the happy couple from Chicago. "Who get's married on a boat? No one I know!" Claimed Mandy as she was surprised by her venue only two days before the actual wedding. The girls were floored at the flowers, food and decor on their special day. The sky was a bright pink at sunset which is exactly when the girls were wed. Love and Pride Jewelry To Sponsor First Comes Loves

Loveandpride.ca is home to the world’s first designer jewelry collection for gays and lesbians and will be the featured jeweler on the second season of First Comes Love. Featured in People, The New York Times, Out and The Advocate, this collection celebrates who we are with rings, necklaces, bracelets, watches and accessories in eye-catching designs for every budget, from $30 to $7,000. Love and Pride is the brainchild of acclaimed jewelry designer, Udi Behr, whose creations have been worn by celebrities from Sharon Stone and Britney Spears to rapper Ludacris.

“It is exciting to be entering a market where same-sex marriage is already legal,” said Udi Behr, president and designer of Love and Pride. “We feel that Canadians are more open to embracing the collection because same-sex marriage in Canada is less of a taboo.”

Behr’s sentiments are reflected in Love and Pride’s daring print and outdoor advertising campaign for Canada, which the company expects will generate lots of buzz. Against a backdrop of beautiful same-sex models wearing Love and Pride jewelry, the campaign slogan reads: “America’s too straight for this.”

The designer, who is straight, created Love and Pride to support the gay community in its struggle for marriage equality and currently donates 10% of sales outside Canada to Lambda Legal, a leading gay rights organization in the US. LoveandPride.ca will continue this commitment by donating 10% of Canadian sales to a non-profit gay rights organization in Canada.

Love and Pride is excited to be a new sponsor for the second season of First Comes Love, formally known as My Fabulous Gay Wedding. First Comes Love will be premiering on LOGO starting on Valentine's Day 2007. Casting is still in progress.
